Intimate hygiene

WHAT PERSONAL HYGIENE ROUTINE SHOULD ACTIVE WOMEN FOLLOW?

Personal hygiene for active women

During exercise, sweating and dampness in the mucosa can cause or exacerbate irritation and itching, especially in women prone to minor gynaecological discomfort.

Here are our personal hygiene tips for after sport, so you can reconcile exercise and comfort in your intimate area

For all active women (jogging, dance, fitness, etc.):

  • After exercise, showering or using intimate hygiene wipes is the only way to stop dampness – which causes mycoses in the intimate area – and calm any potential irritation caused by friction with clothes.
  • If you shower frequently, use the soap-free Gentle Cleansing Care.
  • Wash yourself using your bare hands and do not use a flannel, which is a breeding ground for microbes.
  • If it is not possible to take a shower, use wipes for personal hygiene. These are practical as they can be popped discreetly into your sports bag.
  • Wear cotton underwear, rather than more irritating synthetic fabrics.
  • Avoid wearing excessively tight trousers or shorts, which cause sweating and friction – a source of irritation.
  • After your shower, dry your body and intimate area thoroughly using a clean, dry towel.

Our personal hygiene tips for water-based exercise:

The water in swimming pools can exacerbate female itching and irritation on sensitive skin and mucous membranes.

Once out of the water, we recommend wearing your wet swimsuit for as little time as possible. This is because the moisture in your swimsuit helps fungal infections to develop.

It is also important to remove traces of chlorine and disinfectant products which are highly irritating, by showering with an intimate and body hygiene product or using intimate hygiene wipes.
