THE SANITARY NAPKIN

It is the basic hygienic protection. Easy to put in place and to change, the sanitary napkin does not require any intravaginal handling.

Tampon

Practical, discreet, the tampon is the hygienic protection that has constituted a real revolution in the lives of women! This small cotton cylinder slips into the vagina to absorb the flow of blood. Just like the sanitary napkin, it must be changed regularly: every 4 hours to 6 hours maximum, or even more often if the periods are very heavy. Do not forget to wash your hands before and after handling the tampon. At first, a little practice may be needed to handle it.

The tampon is an excellent protection for the sport as well as the swimming pool.

The media coverage of cases of toxic shock syndrome, sometimes linked to the misuse of tampons, may have sown doubt among the followers of this mode of periodic protection. We must be reassured because these cases are extremely rare and, above all, proper use respecting the rules of use (cited above) makes it possible to avoid them.

Some tips and rules of use to follow regarding its use :

  • Do not wear a tampon for more than 6 hours
  • Do not sleep with a tampon
  • Do not flush it down the toilet as it can clog the pipes

THE MENSTRUAL CUP

The cup or menstrual cup is an alternative to tampons. It comes in the form of a biomedical silicone cup that is inserted into the vagina to collect menstrual blood. There are several sizes, adapted to the flow and the width of the vagina. Very economical, the menstrual cup lasts 5 years on average.

Prefer those without phthalate and without Bisphenol A. It must be emptied regularly (every 4 to 6 hours maximum) and cleaned between each use. It is essential to wash your hands before and after use. Note that, like the tampon, its installation and removal requires a little learning.

TSS may be linked to misuse of the menstrual cup. Cases are extremely rare and, above all, good use respecting the rules of use makes it possible to avoid them.

  • Do not wear a menstrual cup for more than 6 hours
